Creating the Background
The pages of this book has the most beautiful artwork in it and they have a dreamy feeling that just makes your fingers itch to create something. When I started with this page I had no idea what I wanted to do I only new that I wanted to use my Distress crayons. A fun and easy technique to do with these crayons are stamping. This technique makes your backgrounds look faded and so so cool! I also used the Mixed Media notebook journal from Ciao Bella to create in.
The fist step is to look for a background stamp in your stash that you absolutely love, I used the Stampers Anonymous stamp number CM5298 Vines and Roses stamp. Choose the colours Distress crayons you wish to use and colour in your stamp. Then Slightly mist the stamp with water and stamp the image onto your page. I stamped it twice to cover the full page.

I loved the background too much but also wanted to do some stamping. To keep on seeing the full background I used the white side of a serviette that I have taken off the printed page to do my stamping on. Then with a music stamp that I have, I stamped it with black permanent ink onto the white tissue paper. Pieces of it I then glued over my background with Distress Collage Medium.

Next, I used an embossing folder to create some interest and texture on the page. I cut a small piece of smooth white cardstock 14cm x10 cm. To add more colour to the piece I brushed some Kitch Flamingo Oxide Ink over the one side of the embossing folder that have the flat parts and mist it with some water before adding the card stock and running it through my die cut machine.

One of the fussy cut items that I decided to use in my project is a journaling card, but I wanted to be able to admire both sides of the piece when I go through my journal again and the best way to store this ephemera piece is to create a pocket. I did not want to create the normal square pocket so I decided to cut out the image of the embossing folder to create the pocket with

I could not decide on one fussy cut item and cut out several pictures from the book. These images are black and white however and I then coloured them with the distress crayons to beautify my Art Journal page.

To add a journaling spot to the back of the journaling card I used the white cardstock again to create a journal spot and decorated the frame of it with a textured stamp and the Distress Crayons same technique as I have used with creating the background. To complete the page after all the ephemera pieces have dried, I glued them to their perfect spots on the page.
